Short answer
Members of a foreign NATO force stationed in Germany can order tax-free from Sport Conrad upon presentation of a validly completed clearance form.
For an online order, the original clearance form must be received by us before the picking process begins. The maximum tax-free order value is €2,500.00 net.
For a tax-free purchase in one of our stores, please contact the desired store directly before your purchase.
Who can order tax-free?
This procedure applies to soldiers and members of a foreign NATO force stationed in Germany.
A temporary stay in Germany, for example during a holiday, is not sufficient.
As proof, we require a validly completed clearance form from the responsible VAT-Relief Officer.
The fully completed clearance form is sufficient as proof. No additional identity documents need to be submitted for online orders.
What documents do I need?
For tax-free online orders, we require the fully completed clearance form in the original.
The clearance form must be completed or confirmed beforehand by the responsible VAT-Relief Officer.

A photo, scan, or copy sent by email is not sufficient for final processing.
How do I place an online order?
- Add the desired items to your shopping cart.
- Proceed with the order as usual.
- Enter the following or a similar note in the order comment field:
NATO order – tax-free processing. The clearance form will be sent in the original by post.
- Send the completed clearance form directly after ordering to our postal address.
Your order will be held until the original is received and verified.
What is the maximum value allowed?
The tax-free order value must not exceed €2,500.00 net.
There is no minimum order value.
Vouchers are excluded from this procedure.
Shipping costs are charged as usual.
Which delivery address can I use?
Delivery must be made to an address within Germany.
Delivery can, for example, be made to a private German address or a work address.
The billing and delivery addresses do not have to be identical. However, both addresses must be located in Germany for tax-free processing.
What payment methods are possible?
In principle, the payment methods offered in the online shop can be used.
Prepayment
If you choose prepayment, please do not transfer immediately.
Wait first for the net invoice issued by us. Then transfer only the amount shown there.
PayPal, credit card or Klarna
With these payment methods, the order is initially paid for in the usual way.
After the original clearance form has been received and the order has been changed to tax-free, the German VAT will be automatically refunded via the originally used payment method.
For credit card payments, it may take a little longer for the refund to appear on your account.
Until when is tax-free adjustment possible?
Tax-free adjustment is only possible as long as the order is not yet in picking.
As soon as you have received the email with the subject
"Status information about your order"
no changes to the tax treatment are possible.
After picking has started or after dispatch, the order can no longer be changed to tax-free retrospectively.
Will I receive a net invoice?
Yes.
The invoice will be issued directly without German VAT after receipt and verification of the clearance form.
For prepayment, you will receive this net invoice before making the transfer.
For other payment methods, the order will be billed accordingly after adjustment and the overpaid VAT refunded via the payment method used.
What happens to the clearance form?
Sport Conrad adds the necessary order and invoice details to the clearance form.
Depending on the form version, you will receive one or more copies or duplicates back.
A copy of the clearance form is forwarded to our accounting department together with the invoice.
What happens if the clearance form is missing?
Without the original clearance form, the order cannot be processed tax-free.
The order will initially be held and we will contact you if the document is missing, incomplete, or illegible.
As a guideline, a deadline of approximately 14 days applies. This deadline is not binding.
If the clearance form is not received and we do not receive any feedback after our inquiry, the order may be cancelled.
Can I also shop tax-free in a store?
In principle, tax-free shopping is also possible in a Sport Conrad store. However, the exact procedure may differ from online ordering.
Therefore, please contact the desired store directly before your purchase. The staff will inform you about which documents you need to bring and how tax-free processing is handled on site.

Are there any special considerations for returns?
The same return and cancellation conditions generally apply to tax-free NATO orders as for other orders.
In the case of a full or partial return, the refund will be made via the originally used payment method.
A new clearance form is only required if a completely new order is placed.
